The students of the physics working group "solar boat" built with their captain Dr. Vogt a fully functional solar boat. The project was carried out from the organization through planning to implementation by the students in team work. As the working group members handed in their project in April at the Idea Makers competition, they had hardly dared to dream that it would be so successful. But at the end of April, when the invitation to the awards event in Stuttgart became clear and their project had been selected by the jury as winners, our boat builder gain courage. They published their project in public, distributed flyers and mobilized friends, pupils, parents and teachers to participate in the online voting in order to win the audience prize. At the award ceremony of the Idea Makers 2008 they could hardly believe it: Their project was awarded by the jury with a prize in the amount of 5,000 € and as the winner of the Audience Award they additional won € 5,000 for our school. We are proud of this achievement and congratulate our working group and its captain, Dr. Vogt, director of the working group "solar boat", for their outstanding performance.
